As usual, it all began with a fabric fairy … I found this black woolen so sweet and skilfully embroidered, thick and airy at the same time. A rich fabric that requires a simple cut. I made a straight skirt, using the selvage as bottom hem. I used a velvet ribbon for the belt and the sides.
This is one of the first clothes I sewed. I did not use any pattern. I divided the difference between the hips and waist circumference in 4 darts. Just as in the basic pattern of a skirt. Should I do more complicated?

I think you did exactly the right thing with this skirt. The fabric is so amazing that a simple shape would show off the fabric in the best way. Great job! It’s beautiful!
Such an amazing fabric find! The simple cut really brings out the wonderfullness of the fabric. Great choices!
