The little black skirt

As usual, it all began with a fabric fairy … I found this black woolen so sweet and skilfully embroidered, thick and airy at the same time. A rich fabric that requires a simple cut. I made a straight skirt, using the selvage as bottom hem. I used a velvet ribbon for the belt and the sides.

This is one of the first clothes I sewed. I did not use any pattern. I divided the difference between the hips and waist circumference in 4 darts. Just as in the basic pattern of a skirt. Should I do more complicated?

  1. I think you did exactly the right thing with this skirt. The fabric is so amazing that a simple shape would show off the fabric in the best way. Great job! It’s beautiful!
